Canada bound 🇯🇵✈️🍁🇨🇦

5 November 2022

Well this is it…the dreaded last day. It is always difficult to plan out the day as it is only a half day before we go to Narita. So we went shopping! LOL

First up was the norm – breakfast and bath. Then a fun game of luggage Tetris. We had to leave space for all of the goodies we were about to buy 😁 We left our luggage at the front desk and headed out. We were too early! Luckily Choco Cro was open. Phew! We had a lovely snack and then hit the stores where we bought two fairly large size bags of goods.

Last one for a year!

Shopping was done and we still had close to three hours. So we went to Ueno Park, which is very beautiful. We found a new area to sit in and phoned Phaedre for a chat. We actually got a bit chilled so, now that we are almost acclimated to Tokyo weather, we anticipate freezing at home 🥶

New area!

We then went back to Everyone’s Cafe, which we really liked. There was a line and a neat device that spit out your number after asking a few questions. We only had to wait about 10 minutes. I got the Garden Set, which was full of tasty dishes on little plates. I love many little plates full of interesting foods! Kim had Cream lemon seafood spaghetti and pancakes for dessert. So delicious!

After lunch we walked back to the hotel, retrieved our luggage and jumped onto the Skyliner bound for Narita Airport Terminal 1. We had lots of time as the plane was delayed by 1.5 hours. It will now be a quick turn-around in Vancouver 😳 I think they might have changed where the Air Canada counter is as it is now in the south wing. Luckily there are lots of Information counters! We were upgraded so got to go into the priority line. Ironically the bag drop off line moved way faster as their was a lady in our line with lots of luggage and some sort of problem that we could not figure out. Kim also got bumped around to three different counters to inquire about his lost watch. No luck 🙁Finally we were finished and made our way to Immigration and Departures. We went up to the lounge and it was nuts! It’s the biggest lounge we have seen and packed full! It finally started to clear out and get quieter. There are also very few people wearing masks in the lounge, even when they are not eating. We saw quite a few maskless people in the airport as well.

Pretty good flight to Vancouver. The seats had tons of features and there was so much food! And, most importantly we made it to our next flight with plenty of time!
